Very cool customer XJR1300 from Australia

Yamaha-XJR1300-5-740x493

This is a custom Yamaha XJR1300 done by the chaps at Deus ex Machina.  This is what they think it could have looked like, in a weird terminator-esque, post-apocalyptic world and it’s now available as a kit for you to buy.

Yamaha originally approached Deus at the start of 2013 about making a kit for the XJR, as they were intrigued to see what Deus would come up with when offered this blank canvas.

The original XJR has been in production for years.  The dinosaurs used to get around on a similar sort of thing.  The most recent iteration now has fuel injection, and a host of other clever engine technology mostly aimed at getting the air cooled motor through modern emissions regulations.

The important thing however is that Deus has done a great job of making what does at best described as a classic shape, and bringing it bang up to date with a more chunky look.  New tank, clip ons, instruments, calipers and disks also help make the XJR look far more modern.  Even though Deus say they took inspiration from the 70’s and 80’s endurance racers, we think it looks great.  We especially like the EU approved (maybe) exhaust.

Finally, the cost.  It’s 7,500 Euro.  Not bad considering all of the parts you get for your money, and you’ll certainly do well to see another like it on the road.  It’s certainly got us checking out eBay for second hand XJRs.
